The primary duties of the Rail Construction Manager will be to oversee construction management and inspection services for track and civil, structural, and other construction types for a variety of mainline, industrial, yard and terminal projects with Class I railroads, transit agencies, short line railroads, and industrial clients. Civil and track construction management assignments may include siding and mainline construction, special trackwork, utilities, drainage features, PTC and signal and communications construction. Structural construction management may include railroad underpasses and retaining wall construction and public agency overpass inspection/coordination.

Project management responsibilities may include managing scope, budget and schedule as well as development of project guides, project meeting notes, and project controls. Candidate must be able to direct and mentor staff, manage projects and assist as Resident Engineer on projects. Position will require client and stakeholder meeting, site visits, field assessments, and construction inspection, as needed.
 

Preferred Qualifications 
 
  • BS in Civil Engineering with emphasis in railroad engineering 
  • Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Local project experience
  • Experience as a Project Manager
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in construction management

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Construction Science or closely related field or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in various aspects of construction planning and management, including but not limited to construction contracts; document, time, cost, and quality management; change management; and site safety. estimating, bidding, preparing and administering purchase orders and subcontracts, scheduling, cost control, etc.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Experience with construction management software such as Procore, Prolog, Primavera, Bluebeam, etc.
  • Must have strong people skills and the ability to interact with the Owner, Engineer, Contractor and other project stakeholders
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
  • Sponsorship (visa) for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.
