    Description:
    Sign Language Interpreter.  This is a FTE 0.4 Part-time position. Translates via sign language the information and communication that occurs around the hearing impaired student in multiple settings across the school day.  Position start date:  August 2026.

    Job Summary:

    1. The qualified candidate will have a passing score for the state certification.
    2. Must be proficient in English, in both written and spoken form.
    3. Listen to a speaker's words, inflection and intent and simultaneously interpret them into signs using the preferred communication mode of the student with a hearing impairment.
    4. Must be able to comprehend sign, inflections and intent of the student and simultaneously speak them in articulate, appropriate English.
    5. Facilitate communication between hearing individuals and the student with hearing loss.
    6. Prompt, cue and redirect students to remain on task
    7. Participate in the administration of classroom, district and state assessments.
    8. Observe student behaviors and performance and communicate student performance to teacher and support staff.
    9. Support a safe atmosphere conducive to a positive learning environment. Act as role model on appropriate behaviors ensuring social and emotional development is progressing normally.
    10. Enforce and support school policies, philosophies and objectives with students and parents.
    11. Collaborate with other staff in planning, modifying, enhancing and implementing curriculum and school objectives.

    Rate of pay:
    $22.50-32.00. Experience in the same or similar position will be considered. This position has 181 work day calendar.
