Position Summary
The Volunteer School Coach supports the school’s athletic program by assisting in the development of student-athletes. This role focuses on teaching sport-specific skills, promoting teamwork, and fostering a positive, safe, and inclusive environment. The coach serves as a role model, encouraging students to demonstrate good sportsmanship, discipline, and respect both on and off the field.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and conducting practices, drills, and training sessions
- Teach fundamental skills, rules, and strategies of the sport
- Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and positive behavior
- Supervise students during practices, games, and team activities
- Ensure student safety and proper use of equipment
- Support the head coach or athletic staff in organizing games and events
- Monitor student participation and encourage academic accountability
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents
- Follow all school policies, procedures, and athletic guidelines
Qualifications
- Interest or experience in coaching or the specific sport
- Ability to work effectively with students of varying skill levels
- Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
- Positive attitude and ability to motivate students
- Prior coaching or mentoring experience (preferred but not required)

Work Environment
- Indoor and outdoor athletic settings (gym, field, track, etc.)
