About the Department

Salary Information: Minimum for Academic Year 2025-2026, $1,978 per credit hour, commensurate with education and experience.

Other Conditions:

  • For lecturer applicant pool, part-time, pending availability of funds and actual staffing requirements.
  • Must be available to teach courses online and in person, either during the day, evening, or weekend.
Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Teach assigned courses in Middle Level Education, 6-8: English; and/or Secondary Education, 6-12: English.
  2. Maintain a minimum of one office hour per week for each course taught.
  3. Prepare course syllabi and reports related to teaching and student progress.
  4. Work under supervision of division chair to integrate teaching efforts with other instructors within and across the discipline area.
  5. As needed, work with multimedia presentations, distance education instruction, and teaching at off-campus sites.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. Master's degree in English, English Education, or Curriculum & Instruction.
  2. Minimum 3 years Middle Level (grades 6-8) and/or Secondary (grades 6-12) English classroom teaching experience.
  3. Demonstrated teaching effectiveness, as verified by professional references
Desirable Qualifications
  1. College teaching experience in an accredited teacher preparation program.
