PURPOSE OF POSITION
Prepare and document items that are to be shipped to customers (domestically and internationally) as well as document all incoming shipments. Make sure that incoming items are received into the inventory system accurately and delivered to the appropriate location within the building.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
More specifically, the person will:
Shipping & Packaging
- Package and ship parts using appropriate materials and methods to ensure safe arrival.
- Build, wrap, and strap pallets for larger parts and oversized shipments.
- Enter shipment information into the FedEx system, generate labels, and schedule pickups.
- Drop off packages at carrier locations and complete occasional parts runs as needed.
Silo & Vendor Coordination
- Work directly with drivers to safely and efficiently load silos.
- Coordinate with the coating vendor on the loading and unloading of silos and silo parts.
- Verify silo and silo-component loads against shipping documentation and report discrepancies.
Receiving & Inventory Management
- Receive incoming shipments, inspect for damage, and verify quantities against packing slips.
- Enter packing slip receipts accurately into the inventory system in a timely manner.
- Maintain organized inventory throughout the shop, including pallet racking and shelving.
- Store products in designated locations and keep storage areas clean, labeled, and accessible.
- Track inventory levels in the shop and notify the office when items need to be reordered.
- Review system inventory for accuracy and perform regular cycle counts and full inventory counts.
- Investigate and reconcile inventory discrepancies, partnering with the office team as needed.
General Duties
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shipping, receiving, and storage environment.
- Follow all company safety policies and proper material-handling procedures.
- Communicate proactively with the office, production, drivers, and vendors.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support shop operations.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION – EXPERIENCE – COMPUTER SKILLS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in shipping, receiving, warehousing, or a similar role.
- Experience using FedEx (or comparable carrier) shipping software.
- Working knowledge of inventory management systems and entering packing slip receipts.
- Ability to build and strap pallets and safely package parts of varying sizes.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record for parts runs and package drop-offs.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and stand, bend, and move throughout an 8+ hour shift.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and basic computer proficiency.
Preferred
- Experience working with silos and coordinating with coating or finishing vendors.
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain one.
- Familiarity with ERP or inventory software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar).
- Experience performing cycle counts and reconciling inventory discrepancies.
