Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP is looking for an Information Governance Analyst to support the Information Technology. Willkie is an elite international law firm of approximately 1,300 lawyers located in 16 offices in six countries.
The Information Governance Analyst will support Security Operations by managing and overseeing the secure handling and transfer of client and firm data. This role will coordinate the intersection of responsibilities held by Security, Records, Risk, and Legal, ensuring that all data movement activities are performed in a controlled, auditable, and policy-aligned manner.

- Review and coordinate requests involving client matter transfers to external law firms, document sharing with clients or third-parties, former employee data requests, and internal exports involving ethical walls or legal holds.
- Review and coordinate requests involving client matter transfers from external law firm and data received from clients or third-parties.
- Validate completeness of such requests, required approvals, and business justification.
- Ensure appropriate handling procedures are followed prior to execution.
- Act as a control point for non-standard high-risk (“one-off”) import or export requests. Apply consistent criteria for exception handling and escalation.
- Help define and standardize workflows for data movement and handling. Identify gaps in current processes and recommend improvements.
- Serve as a liaison between Security Operations, Records, Risk Management, OGC, LTS, and Conflicts Management. Support alignment of responsibilities between governance and execution.
- Maintain detailed records of requests, approvals, and actions taken. Ensure all activities are traceable, defensible, and audit-ready. Support internal and external audits as needed.
- Help develop a scalable operation model for data handling requests. Contribute to SOPs, intake workflows, and approval frameworks.
- This role will provide support to the SOC as needed, ensuring continuity of operations and timely response.
- 2-5+ years work experience in Information Governance, Records Management, Security Operations, or Legal Technology.
- Experience working with document management systems, such as iManage. Understanding of data handling and classifications.
- Understanding of common security device functions, such as IDS/IPS, Network and Host-based firewalls, DLP (Data Leakage Protection), encryption, endpoint security.
- Understanding of malware, emerging threats, attacks, and vulnerability management.
- Excellent communication skills, troubleshooting and analytical thinking skills, self-driven, multi-tasking, work collaboratively in a team environment, and willingness to adapt to change in dynamic, global environment are critical.
- Participate in a 24x7 Incident Response Team and available to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Scripting experience with Python, Powershell etc. a plus
- Bachelor’s Degree and current industry Certifications
- Certified Information System Security Professional - CISSP
- Nice to have - SANs GIAC, Certified Ethical Hacker – CEH, Cisco certified Network Associate - CCNA, Cisco Information Security Specialist (CQS), Cisco Certified Firewall Specialist – CQS, Cisco IPS Specialist (CQS)
- Ability to sit at a desk most of the working day and walk short distances
- Needs manual dexterity, speed and accuracy in handling office equipment
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately in an atmosphere of frequent interruption
- Ability to work in close proximity to other individuals
- Ability to carry light objects, e.g., files, small objects and supplies a short distance.

USD $85,000.00 - USD $85,000.00 /Yr.
