POSITION DESCRIPTION  

HGL is currently seeking experienced Radiological Control Technicians (Radiation Control Technician 2 SCA) to support our Decommissioning, Dismantling, and Disposal project for two buildings at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) project site in Livermore, CA. The initial duration of project is anticipated to be 5 ½ years. We are seeking experienced Health Physics/Radiological Control Technicians who can effectively embrace the technical and operational challenges of high profile and critically important field level project support activities. Technicians that can execute radiation health & safety surveys, controlling and processing the highest technical and data integrity standards as set forth by project workplans and project stakeholders. 

 


Responsibilities/Duties

 

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING   

  • Carry out company's health physics policies and procedures on field project assignments.
  • Perform field Health Physics Technician assignments to align with the objectives of the project work schedule.  
  • Maintain and operate radiation measuring equipment; conduct radiological ground surface and equipment surveys and perform radiological sampling; interpret survey and sample data; able to document radiological surveys performed in high quality, error fee format.  
  • Provide instruction to others regarding radiological hazards.  

 


Required Skills

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL 

  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years of operational health physics/radiological control experience within the radiation safety field. 
  • Familiarity with radiation protection regulations and standards of the USNRC, USDoD, USDOE, and USACE  
  • Must have current HAZWOPER 40-hour qualification  
  • General standing, bending and reaching to support project survey and housekeeping activities. Must be able to periodically lift and move equipment and materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work in environments with additional hazards and PPE requirements, including Tyvek coveralls and respirators.

 

 

Preferred Skills

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO STAND OUT – Preferred, not required

  • DOE, Navy, or USACE environmental and facility decontamination experience is desired.

This is a Service Contract Act (SCA) position. As an SCA-covered role, benefits and paid time off differ. The hourly rate for this position ranges from $42.12-$58.71. This position's final salary can be impacted by various factors including, but not limited to, contractual requirements, geographic location, job-related education, training, experience, and skills.
