Job Description

Malvern Health is currently seeking a Part-Time Registered Dietitian to work at two of our facilities in Philadelphia.  One is an Inpatient Psychiatric facility in South Philadelphia and the other a Residential Treatment Center in West Philadelphia. The Registered Dietitian would be responsible for Dietitian coverage at two Malvern locations; one location located at 1930 S Broad Street Philadelphia, PA 19145 and the other located at 3905 W. Ford Road Philadelphia, PA 19131.  

JOB SUMMARY:

The Registered Dietitian is responsible for assessing and supervising the nutritional need of the patients, providing age and developmentally appropriate diet planning and education and assuring quality nutritional care is provided to all patients in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives Malvern Health and the American Dietetic Association. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITES:

1. Completes Nutritional Screening and Assessment within 72 hours of requested consult with consideration to age, mental, social and psychical status of patient.

2. Identifies patients dietary needs integrating information obtained through anthropometric measurements and input from family, significant other and/or primary care giver.

3. Accurately and thoroughly documents assessment and dietary plans using appropriate clinical terminology.

4. Ensures nutritional value of meals through participating in meal planning, observing meal trays

5. Develops realistic and measurable goals and desired outcomes incorporating patients diagnosis, medical issues and length of stay.

6. Completes designated portion of multidisciplinary continuing care plan.

7. Provides care in a clinically effective manner demonstrating sound and professional judgement and competency.

8. Designs nutrition programs appropriate to the developmental needs of the patient.

9. Provides age-appropriate individual and group nutritional education to patients and families as needed and as part of the continuing care plan.

10. Accurately and thoroughly documents care plan using goals developed in the master treatment plan and treatment plan revisions, as needed.

11. Ensures age appropriate and clinically required nutritional supplies/foods are available. 

12. Reports unsafe conditions with kitchen equipment or environment. Takes action to correct conditions.

13. Demonstrates knowledge and use of infection control/universal precaution principles to prevent exposure to and transmission of disease.
