In this role, The Real Estate Specialist will manage the real estate aspects of project development for a portfolio of the company’s projects, including coordination within the company, working with surveyors and title companies and other consultants. You will be responsible for initial real estate due diligence, managing real estate contracts and overseeing land acquisition by performing all the tasks needed to understand, manage, and mitigate real estate risks or overseeing the work of a consultant to accomplish the same goal. The primary objective is to work with the Development, M&A, Legal, and Tax Equity teams across the full project life cycle to bring projects through financing, into construction, and ultimately to successful commercial operation.


Principal Duties & Responsibilities


The Real Estate Specialist is anticipated to have the following duties and responsibilities:


  • Conduct due diligence review for real estate transactions, including title and survey review, lease review, review of third-party reports, and abstracting title and lease documents.

  • Work with external development partners, financing parties, legal counsel, and title companies to consummate transactions and negotiate appropriate title policies.

  • Obtain and confirm legal descriptions to ensure that they describe the property on which the intended energy facility is proposed.

  • Manage real estate aspects of project development and financing, inclusive of ongoing survey work, title reports, title commitment and insurance

  • Support Merger and Acquisitions Teams in performing real estate due diligence for prospective project acquisitions opportunities

  • Support Tax Equity Teams in finalizing real estate details required for tax equity closings

  • Research government records and online databases to determine land interest, provide support to origination teams by identifying early red flags and proposing solutions to identified issues

  • Input data into company database to monitor and record pertinent contracts and continually maintain data integrity

We are looking for someone with a combination of the following knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience.


Technical Skills & Expertise

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with a focus on Real Estate Contract preparation, Real Estate Title or Surveying work or other relevant real estate experience.

  • Project and/or case management skills, including managing and prioritizing multiple projects and deadlines

  • Working knowledge of GIS applications

  • Intermediate to expert skills in Microsoft Office, Excel

  • Experience handling a large volume of commercial real estate transactions, land development, and land acquisition in various states
