Job Description

Libertyville D70 is seeking Summer School LBS1 Teachers for the 2026 Summer School.  Summer School will run from June 8 - July 2 (There are no classes on Fridays) and it will be a half-day morning program. The stipend for this is $3,500.

Qualifications:

Appropriate ISBE License LBS1 Endorsement (incl. Middle School)

Applicants must hold an active PEL and be registered in Lake County.

LBS1 Endorsement (incl. Middle School)
Purpose: To provide sound educational programs for children who cannot
sufficiently benefit from regular classroom instruction as a result of a
disability, as defined by special education criteria.
Essential Functions and Performance Responsibilities: (These are intended only as illustrations of the
various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work
is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.)
1. Reviews files of students on caseload prior to the start of summer school.
2. Makes suggestions to classroom and specials teachers regarding appropriate classroom
environments and instructional strategies.
3. Follows IEPs for all identified instructional minutes and accommodations required
during ESY.
4. Maintains records, documents student progress and completes ESY documentation
requested by the Special Services Coordinator/Director of Summer School.
5. Prepares and/or makes available materials for the classroom teacher to use with the
special education student.
6. Prepares materials to use with the child in educational sessions.
7. Communicates with regular education teachers, special education staff, and parents.
8. Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by an
administrator.
