    JOB DESCRIPTION
     

    • TOTAL COMPENSATION: Salary based on experience and education level per PCBOE salary schedule plus competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation. Please log onto this link for details Benefits and Salaries | Pendleton County Schools
       
    • QUALIFICATIONS:
      • High School Diploma or equivalent
      • Must successfully pass state competency test for aide prior to employment and will work toward an autism mentor and CPI certification within 2 years of employment; hold or qualify for aide certification according to WV Code.
      • Applicants who have unsatisfactory evaluations in the past year will not be considered eligible for consideration; applicants who demonstrate unsatisfactory interview performance are not eligible for consideration; and, applicants who receive unfavorable reference recommendations will not be eligible for consideration additional, minimum requirements for applicants not currently employed: applicants who have been dismissed or who have had their contracts non-renewed for cause by another school district are not eligible for consideration; the ability to perform the job duties and responsibilities of the position as contained in the job description, with or without reasonable accommodations.
      • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
    • IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:  Principal
    • WORK HOURS: 7:15 to 3:15
    • EMPLOYEE CLASSIFICATION: Aide I                                       
    • RESPONSIBILITIES:  The Aide shall be responsible for:
      • Maintaining positive work habits.
      • Performing duties efficiently and productively.
      • Maintaining and/or upgrading skills.
    • PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:  The following performance standards and indicators further define the job responsibilities of an aide.
      • Work Habits:
        • Observes assigned work hours.
        • Maintains regular attendance.
        • Complies with Pendleton County School policies governing employment.
        • Is knowledgeable of rules governing the aide position.
        • Meets daily schedule as prescribed.
        • Adjusts to work assignments and/or schedule changes.
      • Performance:
        • Assume responsibility for supervising students.
        • Demonstrates the ability to plan and prioritize his/her daily activities (effective ue of time/effort).
        • Respects the confidentiality of information associated with schools/students.
        • Utilizes basic methods and procedures prescribed for the instructional setting in which he/she works.
        • Is able to exhibit competence in the subject area(s) in which he/she is assigned.
        • Is competent in the area of record keeping as it pertains to student programs.
        • Demonstrates a warm and receptive attitude toward children.
        • Maintains a cooperative working relationship with principal, supervising teacher, students, parents, general staff and general public.
        • Works well with minimum supervision.
        • Effectively performs duties assigned by the supervising teacher/principal.
        • Is knowledgeable in the operation/care of equipment.
        • Is able to plan and carry out lessons to completion in cooperation with teacher input.
        • Exhibits competence in controlling students.
      • Training and Experience:
        • Participates in courses, seminars, and workshops in the areas of learning theory.
        • Strives to improve instructional performance.
        • Participates in staff development provided by the county.
        • Participates in college courses/training required to advance in the aide classification and/or better preparation for job assignments.
        • Attends in-service meetings and seminars.
        • Reads current articles related to job assignment.
      • Personal Qualities:
        • Possesses physical/emotional health necessary for effective job performance.
        • Demonstrates a positive attitude toward his/her work assignment.
        • Accepts responsibility for the work assigned.
        • Maintains appropriate appearance and personal hygiene.
