About the role:



Overall responsibility for the strategic sourcing of materials to support procurement requirements through source selection, supplier relationships, cost reduction negotiation, delivery, and quality performance.  This includes managing the issuance of RFQs, analyzing quotes, selecting suppliers, and conducting market studies of commodity items.  Coordinate activities with material planning to minimize supply chain interruptions.  Manage New Product Program projects to ensure good communication and minimal delays to the product introduction process.  Take a leadership role in all facets of the supply chain, including transportation, quality, engineering, and other functions. 



What you will do:




  • Sourcing: Responsible for the strategic sourcing of material in assigned commodities to support procurement requirements through source selection, supplier relationships, cost reduction negotiation, delivery, and quality performance.  This includes issuing requests for quotes (RFQs), analyzing quotes, selecting suppliers, and conducting market studies of commodity items.

  • Supplier Development: Visit current and candidate suppliers to perform on-site assessments.   Identify and develop change/improvement strategies as needed.   Develop and maintain solid relationships that support company objectives.  Works quickly to identify and fix quality issues, as well as to "fix" or replace suppliers that cannot maintain quality, price, or delivery.

  • Cost Down & Localization: Continually develop new projects for cost reduction, actively challenge price increases from suppliers, and manage the implementation of the cost down to maximize savings while minimizing transition risk.  Develop a localization plan for your commodities that supports Logisnext's cost structure, minimizes risk, and reduces overall lead times.

  • New Product Program (NPP) and Engineering Changes: Manage parts for new projects to ensure clear communication and minimal delays in the product introduction process.  Manage changes to current production parts to ensure efficient and cost-effective transition.

  • Teamwork: Work with Engineering, quality, service engineering, material planning, legal counsel, and suppliers to proactively resolve sourcing and quality issues.   Work closely with the Material Planner to build a strong relationship that coordinates supplier development activities, minimizes supply disruptions, and enables quick/effective responses to potential issues.

  • Processes and Procedures: Ensures that the purchasing guidelines/practices are followed.  Maintains complete and accurate records, including supplier documentation, quote maintenance, effective cost analysis, and minimizing invoice grief.  Follows processes such as localization, PPAP (Production Part Approval Process), PHO (Part Hand Off), EO (Engineering Order), NPP, Cost tracking, Cost roll, etc.. to achieve both project and corporate goals but also maintains appropriate controls.

Hybrid work environment with a standard 40-hour workweek.  Travel up to 20%.
