Job Summary

THIS POSTING IS FOR LIMITED-TERM POSITIONS.
This position is not eligible for benefits.

The San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) is currently recruiting to fill the limited-term position of Field Supervisor in the General Education subjects for the 2026-2027 school year for the Teacher Effectiveness and Preparation (TEP) Unit. The Field Supervisor will provide field supervision for beginning teachers earning their intern teaching credentials.

This position requires:



  • A valid California Single Subject Math (Foundational Level or full Mathematics) or Science (any subject area), Multiple Subject, master teacher or higher level child development permit, or Clear Administrative Services credential

  • A minimum of five (5) years teaching experience in a math or science classroom setting

  • Experience working with or teaching students and/or adults in person, online, or in a hybrid format


Preferred: Prior experience as a mentor or coach to other adults

Requirements / Qualifications

This limited-term position may be asked to:



  • Supervise assigned candidates, at least 8 classroom observations per semester, as specified in the program contract.

  • Assist candidates to self-assess their current teaching practice and develop learning goals and action steps for continual growth and development of practice utilizing virtual and online technology (ZOOM, Teams, Canvas, etc).

  • Select and share appropriate instructional materials which are aligned with the program’s state standards.

  • Provide mentoring and coaching using a variety of techniques focused on each candidate’s teaching environment, as well as their individual goals and needs.

  • Provide reflective feedback to support interns to actively engage all students they serve, with particular attention to diversities of culture, race, socio-economic, language, sexual orientation and ability.

  • Participate in the revision and update of candidate Intern Performance Appraisal and Intern Learning Plan.

  • Collaborate with program instructors to ensure course content is aligned with candidate’s classroom practice.

  • Monitor individual student’s progress in Fieldwork Seminar course requirements by providing feedback to students within 48 hours of observed instruction.

  • Attend virtual Fieldwork Seminar course sessions.

  • Create and maintain a safe and optimal coaching relationship appropriate to candidate needs

  • Be available for candidate consultation through 8 scheduled visits per semester as well as phone, email, and virtual meetings

  • Work in cooperation with staff, administration, and other agency personnel to establish an effective supervision program.

  • Observe legal mandates at the district and school site where your candidate is assigned

  • Attend scheduled instructor/supervisor meetings, professional development and other assigned meetings as required.
