Job Description

Article Student Living is hiring a Vice President of Investments to join our dynamic and expanding team in Chicago, Illinois. This role will help to lead the sourcing, evaluation, structuring, documentation, execution, and closing of student housing investment opportunities across the United States. You will collaborate with Article's senior executives across multiple departments to ensure our strategic goals are achieved and surpassed. We are looking for an experienced professional to support senior leadership in directing and executing Article’s go-forward acquisition and development strategy.

You will report to the Managing Director, Investments, and work on-site at our Chicago, IL office Monday–Friday, with travel up to 25%.

 

The salary range for this role is $120K - $220K, plus an annual bonus.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Source, evaluate, and execute student housing acquisition and development opportunities across U.S. markets.
  • Lead the underwriting, financial analysis, and overall evaluation of investment opportunities, working closely with a team of associates and analysts.
  • Collaborate with development, capital markets, asset management, and property management teams to execute investment strategies and business plans post-closing.
  • Manage key transaction processes including negotiations, due diligence, legal documentation (LOI, PSA, JV agreements, etc.), and preparation of investment committee and capital partner materials.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, investors, lenders, and industry partners while helping position Article Student Living as a leader in the student housing sector.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop investment team members to support sourcing, underwriting, and execution efforts.

 

Your Track Record:

  • 6–10 years of experience in student housing or multifamily development and/or acquisitions with a strong track record of successful transactions.
  • Established network within the student housing or broader real estate investment community.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team development experience.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in real estate, finance, business, civil engineering, architecture, or a related field.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
