WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

The Electrical Engineer Co-Op will provide support our analog hardware design team, gaining the widest exposure to all of our business functions that make CPI work! This includes the resolution of production support issues, evaluation of obsolete parts, maintenance and identification/implementation of cost reduction opportunities. The position will require interaction with Engineering and Supply Chain peers as well as Senior Leadership, Manufacturing and external suppliers. 

You will gain exposure to:

  • Working with Engineers on research, development, testing, documentation, and design of all CPI products
  • Design, develop, and test proof of concept and system level prototypes
  • Support production related issues and quality assurance
  • Design and conduct experiments to verify product functionality
  • Utilize specialize engineering equipment to test and validate concepts and system level designs
  • Analysis and resolution of production and field issues related to analog, digital and microcontroller-based electronics hardware.
  • Analysis and resolution of electronic part obsolescence issues.  Will be responsible for timely response to end-of-life issues affecting production.
  • Participation in hardware discipline activities including hardware design reviews.  Includes direct interaction with Hardware Technical Manager during development of discipline processes.

 

Examples of projects:

  • Productivity: Replace electrical components in current CPI designs to reduce cost and perform theoretical calculations, contribute to circuit design changes, prototyping, qualification testing, documentation and reporting associated with the project.
  • Shortages: Creatively solve challenges to ensure a steady and uninterrupted flow of materials for efficient production processes. Assist in addressing and resolving issues related to the scarcity of critical components by participating in assessing the feasibility of using substitute components, collaborating with procurement teams to secure necessary resources, and redesigning products to accommodate available materials.
  • Production support: help the company respond to unexpected issues that disrupt the manufacturing process. Assist in analyzing data to identify root causes, collaborating with cross-functional teams to find solutions, and possibly designing temporary fixes ot workarounds to keep production floor running smoothly.

 

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar engineering disciplines
  • Some exposure to analog/digital circuit design
