We have an exciting opportunity for a BANK Mental Health Nurse at HMP Onley, a category C Prison located in Rugby. 

HMP Onley is a male prison and has a population of 980 males. 

As a BANK Mental Health Nurse, you will work closely with other members in the team and will be based in the Healthcare department and some wing based work, Previous prison experience is essential.

BANK Hours: 

  • Monday - Sunday 
  • 8am - 4pm 
    Hourly rate: 
    • Weekdays £23.83 
    • Weekends £25.68

    What you'll be doing




    As a Mental Health Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will

    • Work within a multi-disciplinary team carrying out comprehensive assessments, initiating and reviewing care plans, and developing treatment options
    • Undertake medication rounds, and assess and treat patients who may have undergone traumatic

      experiences and may be distressed
    • Assess patient’s health needs using an evidence based framework and be able to risk assess use sound clinical knowledge
    • You will work with individuals providing advice, support and information and manage a case load of patients.
    • Deliver non-judgemental care that makes a real difference
    • You will monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects liaising with prescribers as required.
    • Inspire excellence by forging strong links with our partners and stakeholders
    • Promote best practice, clinical supervision, evidence based care
    • Share knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure safe care, building strong multi-disciplinary teams

      and supporting each other to do a great job.

    Qualifications required: 

    • Qualified Mental Health Nurse -  NMC Mental Health
    • Evidence of Continued Professional Development
    • Experience of working with patients, face to face, who have complex mental health conditions
    • Experience of psychosocial interventions, group work and awareness of substance misuse

    Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
