Position Overview
Hawkins Delafield & Wood LLP, one of the nation’s leading public finance and infrastructure law firms, is seeking an Associate to join its Public Contracts & Infrastructure Group in New York. The group represents public agencies nationwide in the development and implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects through alternative delivery methods and public-private partnerships (P3s). The group also represents federal agencies in connection with innovative financing programs for infrastructure development.
This role offers the opportunity to work on complex procurement processes, contract negotiations, and financings for transformative public works projects across multiple sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise public sector clients on complex procurement and government contracting matters
- Structure and negotiate project agreements for alternative delivery and P3 transactions
- Draft and review procurement documents, project agreements, and related project documents
- Draft and negotiate financing agreements for public infrastructure projects
- Provide transactional support for large-scale infrastructure projects
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on sophisticated infrastructure financings and project implementation
Qualifications
- 1–5 years of experience in corporate transactions, procurement, and/or government contracts
- Demonstrated interest in public sector representation and infrastructure development
- Knowledge of general contract law principles
- Strong drafting, analytical, and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage complex legal matters and work collaboratively in a team environment
- Admitted to practice in the State of New York (or immediate ability to apply for admission in the State of New York)

Compensation
The anticipated starting base salary for this full-time position begins at $200,000 plus bonus. Actual compensation will depend on relevant experience, job-related skills, and qualifications.
