    Position Overview
    Working from a secure and distraction-free home office, substitute teachers virtually support the learning program for students in grades 9-12 at Idaho Home Learning Academy High School. Using telephone, internet, and various curriculum tools, substitute teachers consult regularly with students, parents, and school personnel to ensure each student receives quality instruction. Substitute teachers serve as teacher of record during short or long-term absences, with assignments ranging from a few hours to several weeks. The average assignment length is one week.

    Requirments
    • Must be 18 years old with a high school diploma
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment requiring flexibility, self-direction, and creativity
    • Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills
    • Proven commitment to student achievement
    • Strong technology skills (experience with learning management systems, Schoology, and Google Apps preferred)
    • Dedicated home workspace free from distractions while in meetings (children, pets, or other noises)
    • Reliable, high-speed internet connection
    • Personal telephone for work communications
    • Individuals should refrain from working on substitute tasks requiring live interaction at other places of employment. 
    Responsibilities When On Assignment
    • Be available to students, parents, and school staff during any required meetings for the position in which you are subbing. Teachers are generally available for five hours, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Mountain Time. Individuals substituting for the special education department may be needed for longer timeframes.
    • Communicate regularly with parents, students, and teachers to answer questions, provide feedback on student work, and to monitor assignment completion.
    • Provide at least one live office hour through Zoom each week to provide student support.
    • Answer all emails and messages sent directly through Schoology in 24 hours.
    • Grade all student submissions in 72 hours.
    • Provide support to students through both synchronous and asynchronous methods if necessary.
    • Post weekly updates on Mondays by noon.
    • Follow the teacher's substitute directions on implementing all required student accommodations.
    Compensation & Other Details
    • Pay rate: $22/hour
    • Daily timesheet submission is required while on assignment. If subbing for several days, individuals may make arrangements to report at the end of the week. Late timesheet submissions cannot be processed. 
    • Applicants may also be given the option to substitute for the K-8 program or the special education department.
    • This is a non-contracted position; benefits are not included
