Job Description

Scope of position

ConeTec is seeking an Amphibious Operations Manager for Latin America (LATAM) to lead technical operations in aquatic and terrestrial environments, including mining projects. This position requires experience operating amphibious or marine equipment, strong team leadership, project management expertise, and hands-on technical oversight of specialized equipment.

The ideal candidate will be capable of training local staff, operating in challenging field conditions, and developing strategic amphibious operations across the region.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Operational and Strategic Leadership
  • Lead daily operations involving amphibious equipment and support machinery.
  • Plan and execute projects from initiation through completion, focusing on safety, efficiency, and technical compliance.
  • Implement continuous improvements to procedures, logistics, and operational workflows.
  • Oversee mobilization and demobilization of equipment in remote or hard-to-access environments.
  1. Project Management & Client Relations
  • Manage planning, budgeting, scheduling, and reporting for assigned projects.
  • Collaborate with mining and environmental clients to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Prepare technical proposals and support business development to expand amphibious operations throughout LATAM.
  1. Technical Operation & Equipment Oversight
  • Operate and supervise the operation of amphibious units, marine vessels, and specialty support equipment.
  • Coordinate geotechnical and environmental investigations, including CPT, sampling systems, and geophysical instrumentation.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and mechanical troubleshooting across the fleet.
  • Ensure equipment integrity, availability, and safe operation.
  1. Team Leadership & Training
  • Supervise, mentor, and train field crews and technical staff.
  • Teach safe operation of amphibious and marine equipment as well as specialized procedures.
  • Promote skills development and internal training programs; ideal for a candidate willing to learn or teach Spanish.
  • Foster a collaborative, respectful, and high-performance work culture.
  1. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
  • Champion ConeTec’s strong safety culture and ensure full compliance with procedures.
  • Identify risks, conduct inspections, and report incidents or near misses as required.
  • Ensure adherence to mining-industry HSE standards and local regulatory requirements.


Position Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Proven experience operating marine vessels, amphibious equipment, and associated support machinery.
  • Minimum 5 years of field operations experience in geotechnical, environmental, drilling, or mining-related projects.
  • Previous supervision of field crews and remote operations.
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical aptitude.
  • Experience in mine tailings facilities is an asset.

Technical Skills

  • Ability to operate CPT systems, sampling equipment, and in-situ testing tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting ability for mechanical and operational issues in the field.
  • Computer literacy for reporting, documentation, and equipment logs.

Soft Skills

  • Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, with willingness to learn Spanish.
  • High degree of organization and the ability to perform under field pressure.
  • Capacity to train, mentor, and develop multicultural teams.

Certifications (Preferred / Training Available)

  • Small Vessel Operator Proficiency (SVOP) and/or other marine certifications.
  • Rigging, First Aid, H2S Alive, and additional industrial safety training.

Working Conditions

  • Frequent travel throughout LATAM, including remote camp locations.
  • Work in variable weather and challenging field environments.
