REPORTS TO: Superintendent/Designee
EXEMPT STATUS: Exempt
BASIC FUNCTION:
Serves as educational leader, supervisor, appraiser, and interpreter of the educational program in the school assigned; is responsible for delegating responsibilities as needed to personnel and for the safety and welfare of those assigned to the school.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
- Plan, administer, and supervise the educational program, ensuring effective learning
- Knowledge of curriculum, instruction, assessment, record-keeping, and relevant laws, rules, and regulations
- Collect, organize, analyze, and maintain student achievement data required by the district
- Select and evaluate staff in consultation with the SBDM Council, and supervise all personnel
- Communicate regularly with staff, SBDM Council, PTA/PTO, parents, and the community, and handle school correspondence and notices
- Interpret and execute directives from the Superintendent or Chief Academic Officer and advise district staff on student achievement and school management
- Prepare required reports, maintain student records, and ensure proper documentation
- Manage school discipline per the Board of Education’s Student Code of Conduct and school policies, while enforcing federal and state laws, including Special Education requirements
- Oversee all school programs
- Supervise building and grounds maintenance and ensure proper inventory of equipment and supplies
- Demonstrate punctuality, professionalism, appropriate appearance, and consistent, reliable attendance
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or designee
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- Requires speech, vision, and hearing capabilities
- Work involves both indoor and occasional outdoor activity
- Stand & move for extended periods; lift, push, pull, carry, etc. up to 25 lbs. repetitively; kneel, crouch, sit, etc.
- Use technology, including computers, interactive whiteboards, audio-visual equipment, etc.
- Adhere to the Professional Code of Ethics and follow all board and school policies

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Kentucky Teacher Certification
- Kentucky Principal Certification
- At least 3 years of successful teaching experience
