Position Title:
Visual/Digital Arts Teacher
Skills and Qualifications:
 Must be certified to teach and meet all Washington State certification guidelines.
 Must have strong academic preparation in visual and/or digital arts
 Successful classroom teaching experience in visual/digital arts preferred
 Experience, training or knowledge in working positively with students with special needs
 Experience, training or knowledge in positively working with a multi-cultural setting
 Training/experience in the use of a variety of successful teaching strategies including components of effective
learning
 Ability to design and deliver successful visual/digital arts lessons for high school age children
 Ability to integrate the teaching of the visual/digital arts with other content areas
 Ability to blend a visual/digital arts program
 Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
Reports To:
Building Principal
Major Tasks and Responsibilities:
 Plan appropriate curriculum and learning activities to support visual/digital arts standards, including lessons
that support students in regular education and life skills settings
 Plan and implement Classroom Based Assessments as required to improve instruction and provide feedback
to students
 Assess student needs, prescribe and implement an appropriate instructional program
 Work cooperatively with members of the administrative and instructional staff to evaluate and improve the
educational program within the building
 Participate in district curriculum projects and staff development opportunities, including the integration of the
ELA and Mathematics Washington State Learning Standards
 Communicate effectively with students and parents
 Develop and maintain a positive classroom climate
 Work cooperatively with the District’s Fine Arts Department to enhance art instruction for students
 Learn and adopt the CEL 5D+ Instructional Framework and 5D+ Rubric as tools to improve your instructional
practice
 Perform other duties as assigned.
Support for New Teachers in the Prosser School District Includes:
 Assigned a new teacher mentor/coach for at least 2 years.
 Assigned a job alike mentor.
 Professional development focused on establishing a quality learning environment and effective
teaching strategies.
 Professional development funds to support new teacher development.
