Follow all ISO 14001/IATF 16949 Procedures and Work Instructions relevant to your work area.
Clean powder off press, remove tailing barrels, and remove tooling from a press, when an order has finished its run. Complete an End of Run Ticket and return all adapters and tooling to their designated areas.
Review the Molding Schedule to determine next job for set up and tooling that is required.
Must possess the ability to set up most of the presses with any set of tooling entirely on his/her own. Must have high proficiency in setting up 20/60 Ton Standard Press, 200/300 Ton Standard Press, 660 Ton Standard Press, as well as the 200 and 400 ton multi-action and hydraulic presses. Put new tooling in the press and set tools. Set up straight wall, all types of flange dies, and spherical tools. Make any necessary press adjustments and run first part samples for the approval of QA. Inform supervisor or lead-off that the press is ready for production.
Set up PIP and repair if needed, put fingers on, line up, and set timings, air core rods, and air heads.
Check the density of the parts and make sure that the part is within the proper size and weight according to the part specifications.
After set up is running, recheck to see that all tools are locked in place and that the sizes and weights are still holding. Make necessary adjustments to presses when parts are out of specification, and make necessary changes to maximize the press speed.
Set up Dyna Slides and turntables so the parts slide down from the molding press to the Molding Operator to be put into trays or gages.
Report any worn or damaged equipment. Replace worn mix hoses and defective shoe gaskets when mix leaking occurs. Perform minor press maintenance.
Assist in the training of operators and inform them on handling parts, inspection techniques, and have pallets or racks ready for production. Train and assist other Die Setters and Trainees
Fill out all necessary reports (breakage, inspection, production, and QA).

QUALIFICATIONS

At the Class B Level, this employee must possess an extensive knowledge of presses and tooling to make a great deal of parts. However, he/she is not assigned the most difficult tasks until he/she obtains the Class A status.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); plus multiple years of experience including on the job training. Multiple years of experience required to attain Class B status. Must have strong mechanical abilities.
