    Location:  District-Wide
    Rate of Pay:  $25.00 per hour (Approved time sheets to be provided)

     

    Job Summary:

    The OELPS District Screener is responsible for administering the Ohio English Language Proficiency Screener (OELPS) and other required assessments to students who may be English Learners (EL). The Screener helps determine students' eligibility for EL services in compliance with state and federal guidelines.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Administer the OELPS to potential English Learners in a timely, accurate, and confidential manner.
    • Accurately score student responses and enter results into the district's data systems.
    • Collaborate with enrollment, school staff, and the EL coordinator to identify students requiring screening.
    • Maintain detailed and secure documentation of student assessments and placement decisions.
    • Communicate screening procedures and outcomes to appropriate district personnel and parents/guardians as needed.
    • Stay updated on state and district EL identification policies, procedures, and training requirements.
    • Assist in translation and interpretation services, if qualified, or help coordinate such services as needed.
    • Maintain compliance with FERPA and EL student privacy protocols.
    • Travel between district buildings as required.

     

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
    • Completion of required OELPS training and certification through the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional ethics.
    • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

     

    Working Conditions:

    • Work is performed in a school environment, often across multiple buildings.
    • Requires reliable transportation.

     

    Terms of Employment:

    • As assigned, typically during student enrollment periods or start of school year.
    • Hourly pay rate or stipend as approved by the Board of Education.
    • Evaluation conducted by supervising administrator in accordance with district policy.
