Job Description

The Assistant Deputy Treasurer plays a critical role in supporting the financial management and operational functions of the Adams County Treasurer's Office. The role includes managing deposits, disbursements, and commission payments; reconciling bank accounts; and maintaining accurate financial records in Excel and accounting software. This position also assists with licenses (Small Games of Chance, Bingo, hunting, fishing, dog, etc.), oversees office supplies and website updates, and provides backup support for cash receipting, EFTs, and customer service. Additional duties include document scanning, compliance reporting, and record retention in accordance with state guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and reconcile tax payments, imports, and collector reports.
  • Address discrepancies with tax collectors and ensure ordinance compliance.
  • Prepare deposits, commissions, settlement reports, and bank reconciliations.
  • Manage licenses, office supplies, and records retention.
  • Provide customer service and backup support in receipting, EFTs, and permitting.
  • Scan, file, and maintain financial/legal documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field with 2+ years of experience preferred; OR
  • Associate’s degree with 3+ years of experience; OR
  • High school diploma/GED with 4+ years of relevant experience required.
  • Strong skills in accounting, Excel, and financial software.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving ability.
  • Knowledge of governmental accounting and Pennsylvania tax/licensing regulations preferred.
