The Teacher Assistant will work in the classroom under the direction of the Lead Teacher to reinforce lessons.
Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of state and local rules and regulations governing childcare, NAEYC accreditation standards, and Maryland State Department of Education - Office of Child Care (MSDE-OCC) standards.
- Knowledge of ECE standards in health, safety, and nutrition.
- Knowledge of state regulations for child abuse and neglect reporting.
- Knowledge of child development, including typical and atypical language, cognitive, motor, social, and self-help skills.
- Ability to provide services to all children and families with respect and dignity.
- Advocate for parents in accessing needed resources and support services.
- Assist in ensuring parent involvement through communication, meetings, newsletters, and conferences.
- Assist in the maintenance of assigned classroom records including but not limited to; attendance, and volunteer time sheets.
- Collaborate with other staff in developing plans for activities and strategize on program development and implementation.
- Comply with required documentation and record-keeping responsibilities.
- Ensure records on children and families are current, complete, and kept confidential.
- Ensure all required reports are completed accurately and timely.
- Involve parents in the classroom, recognizing them as the principal influence on their child's education.
- Assist in lesson planning, creating, and implementing a daily program with the Lead Teacher.
- Check shared areas (bathroom, playgrounds, van) for health and safety hazards.
To ensure that all children are signed in and out of the center upon drop off and pick up in accordance with CentroNia standards.
- To ensure that child is received by parent at the end of the school day;
- Submit timely submission of leave requests for approval.
- Support the program by completing other duties as assigned by the Coordinator/Director or the Lead Teacher.
Qualifications:
- 1 year of experience in an Early Childhood Education setting, with demonstrated capacity in assisting with planning classroom activities, observing children's behavior, and maintaining educational records.
- CDA Certification for Infants and Toddlers, or related field, prior to employment (and maintained during employment) or CDA plus credits in Associates in Education, Child Development, or related field, OR 90 clock hours in Early Childhood Education, including 45 hours in Curriculum and Instruction and 45 hours in Child Development.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Current First Aid certificate within 30 days of employment (and maintained during employment).
- Current CPR certificate within 30 days of employment (and maintained during employment).
- Effective English communication skills.
- Flexibility in schedules, sharing tasks, and changes in routines.
- Bilingual (English-Spanish / Spanish-English) highly preferred. English proficiency required.

- 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- Wage: $18.25 to $22 per hour/ based on education
- A maximum of 40 hours a week.
