Full-Time Veterinary Assistant

Job Description:

Woodlake Animal Hospital is seeking a full-time veterinary assistant to join our AAHA accredited hospital. Join our team in providing exceptional client service and veterinary health care for pets and their families! The best candidates will be a team player, possess a positive attitude, and be able to integrate to the culture of our team.

The practice is open from 7:30 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday

Duties to include:

  • Assist in receiving telephone calls- scheduling appointments, and answering questions. Attention to detail and spelling is extremely important for this position.
  • Greet, check in, correctly enter charges and check out clients.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary working environment
  • Take accurate patient histories from clients and communicate well with clients and staff
  • Keep treatment, reception and exam rooms clean and free of dirty items used during treatments to avoid a messy appearance and unpleasant odors.
  • Assist with animal restraint as directed by the veterinarian or veterinary technician for, but not limited to: veterinary exams, sample collection, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and assisting with radiographs.
  • Ability to work efficiently under stressful situations
  • Cage cleaning, exercising, feeding, observation for signs of illness, parasites and disease control, laundry, and keeping animals clean.
  • Other duties as assigned

Familiarity With:

  • Must be able to follow hospital policies and protocols
  • Canine and feline animal husbandry
  • Canine and feline vaccination protocols
  • Knowledge of preventative medicine (canine and feline heartworm, flea and tick preventatives)
  • Must be conscientious of personal safety and the safety of those around them.
  • Must work well in a team environment and promote a positive team culture.
  • Must be able to communicate and work well with other team members.
  • Must be able to maintain good client communications, especially during difficult and stressful times.
