Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate educator to join our team as a Grade 4 Teacher at Lightfoot Elementary. In this full-time position, you will be responsible for creating a positive and engaging learning environment that fosters academic and social growth for students. You will implement a curriculum that meets the needs of diverse learners while promoting critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to student success and a desire to inspire young minds.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement lesson plans that align with state standards and cater to the varying needs of students.
- Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and fosters a love of learning.
- Assess and evaluate student progress through various methods, including tests, projects, and observations.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and academic needs.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers, staff, and administration to enhance the educational experience for all students.
- Incorporate technology and innovative teaching methods to engage students and enhance learning outcomes.
- Manage classroom behavior and implement effective discipline strategies to maintain a positive learning environment.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and enhance teaching skills.
- Support students' social and emotional development by promoting positive relationships and conflict resolution skills.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other required documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field; willing to obtain a Virginia teaching license.
- Experience teaching in an elementary school setting, preferably in Grade 4 preferred
- Strong understanding of child development and effective teaching strategies for diverse learners.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance teaching and learning.
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and meet the needs of all students.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
