JOB OVERVIEW
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for the effective administration and delivery of day-to-day human resources services across the organization. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, this role supports the full employee lifecycle and ensures HR practices, processes, and programs are delivered consistently, professionally, and in compliance with applicable legislation and internal policies.
The HR Generalist acts as a key operational partner to leaders and employees, providing guidance, administrative expertise, and hands-on support while contributing to the overall effectiveness of the HR function.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
HR Operations & Administration
- Administer HR programs and processes across recruitment, onboarding, employee records, compensation, benefits, leaves, and offboarding
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date employee files and HR systems
- Prepare HR documentation, reports, and correspondence as required
- Utilize and maintain BambooHR in day-to-day operations
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Coordinate end-to-end recruitment activities, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, reference checks, and offer preparation
- Facilitate onboarding and orientation for new employees to ensure a positive and engaging start
- Support workforce planning and recruitment initiatives led by the Director of Human Resources
Employee Relations & Advisory Support
- Serve as a first point of contact for employee and supervisor HR inquiries
- Provide guidance on HR policies, procedures, and employment practices
- Support employee relations matters, including performance management, attendance, workplace concerns, and investigations, escalating complex issues as appropriate
Policy, Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure HR practices comply with employment standards, human rights, occupational health and safety, and other applicable legislation
- Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of HR policies and procedures
- Assist with health and safety initiatives, documentation, and reporting
Performance, Engagement & Development
- Support performance management processes and related documentation
- Assist with learning and development, training coordination, and employee engagement initiatives
- Participate in organizational change, culture, and continuous improvement efforts
Projects & Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to HR projects and initiatives led by the Director of Human Resources
- Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, tools, and service delivery
- Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 2–5 years of progressive human resources experience in a generalist role. A combination of education and experience may be considered
- Solid working knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices
- CPHR designation or actively working toward designation is an asset

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems, preferably BambooHR
- Ability to apply conflict resolution, negotiation skills, and problem-solving techniques to respond to varying levels of crisis and complexity
- Have experience, understanding and respect for Indigenous tradition and culture
