Role Description:

The Senior Test Engineer will be responsible for designing and executing functional, exploratory, and end-to-end tests to ensure product quality across new features and enhancements. The role involves validating backend data integrity using SQL, performing API testing, and analyzing system workflows across integrated components.

Day-to-day activities include executing regression testing, identifying gaps in test coverage, logging and managing defects, and collaborating with developers, product managers, and business analysts to clarify requirements and ensure quality throughout the SDLC.

The role will also contribute to test automation initiatives, support release readiness activities, and mentor junior QA engineers while actively participating in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.

Roles & Responsibilities

Strategic Product Testing & Investigation

• Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test cases and scenarios based on functional requirements and technical specifications.
• Perform exploratory testing to identify edge cases, uncovered scenarios, and potential vulnerabilities in product workflows.
• Conduct end-to-end functional testing for new features, enhancements, and critical bug fixes to ensure a seamless user experience.
• Validate backend data integrity using complex SQL queries across databases and reporting modules.
• Perform API testing and validation using tools such as Postman or Swagger.
• Identify gaps in existing test coverage and contribute to improvements in QA strategies and testing processes.

Integration & Automation Contribution

• Analyze system workflows and validate data consistency across upstream systems, processing engines, and downstream reporting modules.
• Execute and manage regression testing cycles to maintain product stability during releases.
• Contribute to automation initiatives by developing or maintaining automated test scripts using tools such as Playwright or Selenium.
• Support release readiness activities and provide QA validation for production deployments.

Collaboration & Leadership

• Collaborate with developers, product managers, and business analysts to clarify requirements and ensure quality throughout the SDLC.
• Actively participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.
• Log, track, and manage defects using tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps and support root cause analysis.
• Mentor junior QA engineers and promote a product-focused investigative testing approach.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of QA standards, documentation, and testing best practices.

Skillset Expectations

Must-Have

• Experience: 7–10 years of professional experience in Quality Assurance and functional testing within web-based applications.
• Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving ability with experience testing complex system workflows.
• Database & API Testing: Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries and experience with API testing tools such as Postman or Swagger.
• Agile Experience: Hands-on experience working in Agile/Scrum environments using tools like Jira or Azure DevOps.
• Version Control: Familiarity with Git or other version control systems.

Nice-to-Have

• Experience with test automation tools such as Selenium or Playwright.
• Exposure to scripting or automation using languages such as C#.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing practices.
• ISTQB certification or equivalent QA certification.

• Analytical Depth: Exceptional problem-solving skills with a proven ability to map out and test complex product architectures.
• Database & API Mastery: Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries for data validation and experience with API testing tools (e.g., Postman).
• Agile Fluency: Extensive experience working in Agile/Scrum environments using tools like Jira and Azure DevOps.
• Version Control: Familiarity with Git and modern version control workflows.
