POSITION: Agriscience Teacher & FFA Advisor
GRADES: 6-12
STATUS: Full-Time - 1.0 FTE

DESCRIPTION:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive agricultural science curriculum that aligns with state standards and promotes student engagement.
- Teach a variety of subjects related to agricultural science, including but not limited to plant science, animal science, agronomy, and environmental sustainability.
- Create hands-on learning experiences through laboratory work, field trips, and agricultural projects.
- Assess and evaluate student performance, providing constructive feedback and support to foster academic growth.
- Collaborate with other faculty members to integrate agricultural science concepts into interdisciplinary projects.
- Organize and supervise extracurricular activities, such as FFA (Future Farmers of America) and other agricultural clubs.
- A minimum of 90 hours of summer AG duties required, that are included in an additional contract and pay.
- Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment, ensuring all equipment and materials are properly managed.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and the community regarding student progress and program initiatives.
- Stay current with advancements in agricultural science and incorporate relevant technologies and practices into the curriculum.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of agricultural education.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science, Education, or a related field
- 4,000 hours of recent and relevant work experience if ACA (Annual Career Authorization) is required
- Strong knowledge of agricultural practices, principles, and technologies.
- Experience in teaching or working with middle and high school students is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
- Ability to develop and implement innovative teaching strategies that cater to diverse learning styles.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Familiarity with FFA or similar agricultural organizations, or willingness to learn
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- This position requires long periods of standing, sitting, and walking.
- The position requires occasional lifting of supplies and movement of classroom furnishings during the course of the school day.
- Work takes place both indoors and outdoors, with some travel to other schools or field trip locations.
