Our integrated solutions help ship owners and operators improve safety, efficiency, and sustainability at sea. With proven reliability, innovative technology, and dedicated support, we enable smarter maritime operations. Let's shape the future of maritime technology together.
Role Overview
We are looking for a Service Engineer (m/f/d) to join our team, providing maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation services for navigation and GMDSS equipment across the maritime industry. This role is well-suited for technically skilled professionals who thrive on variety, enjoy solving problems independently, and take pride in delivering excellent service to customers.
You will be the face of NACOS Marine for many of our clients working directly with ship crews and owners to keep critical systems running reliably. The position involves regular travel, primarily within Norway and Scandinavia, with a mix of planned visits and short-notice callouts.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform periodic inspections and repairs on navigation equipment, including radar systems, ECDIS, VDR, and sensors such as gyrocompass, GPS, AIS, and speed logs
- Carry out periodic inspections and repairs on GMDSS equipment, including VHF, MF/HF radios, Inmarsat, Iridium, Navtex, AIS, and emergency safety devices
- Execute new installations, retrofits, and commissioning of navigation systems and associated sensors
- Support other departments within the NACOS organization as needed
- Propose improvements to products and service procedures based on field experience
- Understand and implement HSE requirements relevant to the role
- Deliver high-quality service that ensures customer satisfaction
- Stay current with new developments, tools, and procedures in the industry
- Provide remote troubleshooting support to ship owners and crew via phone, email, or remote access tools such as Teams or TeamViewer
Key Requirements
Education
- Technical secondary education (e.g., vocational or technical college) or equivalent
- Relevant experience may substitute for formal qualifications
- Comfortable with extensive travel on short notice; service-oriented attitude toward both internal and external customers
- Travel is primarily within Norway and Scandinavia, typically involving short trips (often 2 nights away), with approximately 60–80% travel time—around 70% of which is planned in advance
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken
- Valid driver's license
- Some years of relevant work experience is an advantage
- GOC certification and hands-on experience with GMDSS equipment is a plus
- Must be eligible to obtain security clearance at the Hemmelig/NATO Secret level
- Team player with a good sense of humor—we enjoy working together and value a positive atmosphere
- Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently in the field
Why Choose Us
At NACOS Marine, you will join a close-knit, international team where collaboration and mutual support are central to how we work. We believe in maintaining a healthy work-life balance—while the role involves travel, we never force assignments when personal circumstances don't allow, and the majority of trips are scheduled in advance.
You will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge maritime technology, develop your technical expertise, and build strong relationships with colleagues and customers alike. We value initiative, practical problem-solving, and people who take ownership of their work.
If you're looking for a hands-on technical role with variety, travel, and the chance to make a real difference for customers at sea, we'd love to hear from you.
