Job Summary

Under general direction of an assigned supervisor, provides support and resource information to eligible families of children 0-5 and early care and education providers; serves as liaison among school districts, community agencies, providers, and families; performs related duties as assigned.

Salary Info

Starting salary is $26.43/hr (25/26) with 5 annual incremental increases to $33.76/hr plus benefits up to $1,169.58 per month for single health coverage, $1,844.58/2-party, $2,044.58/family (medical, dental, life, and vision). TSA options available.

Comments and Other Information

This office is establishing an open eligibility list for the Family Advocate - Bilingual Spanish job classification. An additional 5% differential will be included in the hourly rate for this position. Any full-time, part-time or limited-term positions occurring during the life of this list may be filled from the eligibility list for this job classification.

Bilingual Certification Requirement: This position requires oral and written proficiency in Spanish. Applicants are encouraged to submit documentation verifying bilingual proficiency at the time of application. Acceptable forms of certification include:

1. Bilingual certificate from a reputable testing agency
2. Verification of bilingual competence in specified language on a transcript from a regionally accredited college or university
3. Passage of CSET Subtest in the specified language that covers the domain of language and communication in the following areas:
>>> a. Oral Expression
>>> b. Written Expression
>>> c. Listening Comprehension
>>> d. Reading Comprehension
4. Bilingual, Cross-Cultural, Language and Academic Development (BCLAD) Certification

Applicants who do not submit qualifying documentation at the time of application may still participate in the examination process. However, candidates must demonstrate bilingual proficiency prior to being placed on the eligibility list.

Candidates who successfully pass all required employment examinations and do not provide acceptable documentation will be required to pass a bilingual proficiency assessment administered by the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE). Placement on the eligibility list is contingent upon meeting both the examination requirements and verification of bilingual proficiency through one of the methods described above.

Location/Work Schedule
• Work Location: SCOE David P. Meaney Education Center building, Mather, CA
• Typical Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

In-person work is the industry standard for educational entities such as SCOE. Hybrid telecommuting opportunities may be available depending on job duties and department needs.

Examination Process
Qualified candidates will be invited to complete remotely administered examinations, requiring a computer, webcam, and microphone. If you are unable to participate remotely, contact the designated representative before the deadline to make alternate arrangements.
