Systems Administrator / Infrastructure Engineer (Mid-Level)
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, IT Security, or related field, and 8–12 years of related experience; years of experience can be used in lieu of degree (two years of experience for one year of academia)
- Strong expertise in Windows and Linux operating systems in enterprise environments
- Experience with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V \ or similar) in production environments
- Experience with Virtual Desktop environments (Horizon VDI, Azure Virtual Host, Microsoft RDS, or similar)
- Experience working in enterprise network/security environments [SC1]
- Familiarity with high-security or regulated environments such as GCC High, government, defense, or compliance-driven infrastructure (HIPAA, RMF, CMMC, NIST, etc.)
- Strong understanding of Active Directory / Entra ID, including authentication, group policy, conditional access, and identity lifecycle management
- Experience supporting hybrid infrastructure environments (on-prem + cloud)
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, VPNs)
- Experience with scripting/automation (PowerShell, Python, or equivalent) for operational efficiency
- Ability to independently manage infrastructure implementation, maintenance, and escalation-level troubleshooting
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills across systems, network, and application layers
Responsibilities
• Support Windows client setup, maintenance, troubleshooting, and remediation for end user deployments (including standard peripherals)
- Administer and support Windows and Linux server infrastructure in production environments
- Maintain and troubleshoot virtualized environments
- Manage and support identity infrastructure including authentication, access control, and policy enforcement
- Perform system monitoring, patch management, vulnerability remediation, and routine maintenance
- Serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues
- Assist with implementation of infrastructure upgrades, migrations, improvements, and modernization
- Collaborate on architecture, design, and security hardening decisions
- Document systems, procedures, and operational standards
- Support adherence to security best practices and government/customer compliance requirements
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
- Experience with Microsoft Azure, GCC High, or hybrid government cloud environments
- Familiarity with M365 administration (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Power Platform)
- Exposure to endpoint management tools (Intune, PDQ Deploy)
- Exposure to infrastructure-as-code or configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, etc.)
- Experience supporting multi-site or geographically distributed environments

This role is designed for a mid-level infrastructure engineer with strong hands-on enterprise experience, capable of independently managing and troubleshooting complex systems in secure, hybrid, and production environments, while collaborating on architecture, security design, and large-scale infrastructure initiatives.
