A. Pickett Construction, Inc. is seeking a highly proactive Commercial Carpenter Helper & Apprentice to join one of the fastest-growing construction companies in the Mid-Atlantic. We specialize in high-priority commercial and industrial general contracting.

What You Will Be Doing

You will be the vital support system for our field operations, learning the complexities of commercial construction by working side-by-side with our master carpenters:

  • Trade Support: Actively support lead carpenters in executing high-quality rough and finish carpentry for large-scale commercial and industrial builds.
  • Site Logistics & Efficiency: Maintain a highly proactive workflow by anticipating needs, organizing materials, and staging tools to maximize site efficiency and safety.
  • Problem Solving: Troubleshoot technical obstacles on the go to ensure project momentum and strict adherence to vigorous construction schedules.
  • Team Communication: Communicate effectively and professionally with team members, field management, and other trades to ensure project specifications are met.
  • Safety First: Adhere strictly to all established safety policies and procedures to maintain a secure and professional work environment.
  • Adaptability: Support your closely-knit team by executing diverse crossover tasks across the job site with integrity, grit, and dependability.

What You Need to Succeed (Qualifications)

Required Qualifications:

  • Mindset: A high level of personal integrity, a positive, growth-oriented attitude, and the proven ability to be proactive in a fast-paced field environment.
  • Communication: The ability to communicate effectively, safely, and professionally within a team setting.
  • Licensure: A valid Driver's License is strictly required, and you must be insurable under the company's auto policy.
  • Flexibility: The absolute willingness and flexibility to travel to various job locations as required by the project scope (including night shifts and out-of-town work).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience: 1+ years of proven experience in basic carpentry or a related construction trade. (Prior experience with both rough and finish carpentry techniques is a massive plus!)
  • Background: Status as a US Military Veteran or a trade school student looking to enter the industry is highly preferred. Veterans are strongly encouraged to apply!
