EVE KALTZ CENTER DIRECTOR/ACADEMY 21 PRINCIPAL

Location: Eve Kaltz Center

Salary: Negotiable based on education and experience per CLAA Contract

Reports To: Superintendent or Designee

QUALIFICATIONS: 

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

  • Facility manager of the Eve Kaltz Center and Instructional Leader for Academy 21, a hybrid virtual school for grades 6-12.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Five years of successful teaching experience (preferably at the secondary level).
  • A Master's Degree.
  • K-12 Administrator Certificate or enrolled in certified program to earn Administrator Certificate.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful educational administrative experience.
  • Experience in virtual/blended learning environments.
  • Understanding of restorative practices.

DESCRIPTION:

  • Administer the total operation of Academy 21 and its personnel.
  • Collaborate with the Early Childhood Center Director for Great Start Readiness Preschool program facility needs.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Special Education to supervise and evaluate Early Childhood Special Education teaching staff.
  • Direct, supervise and evaluate Academy 21 and Early Childhood Special Education support staff.
  • Implement the policies of the Center Line Board of Education in accordance with the Administrative Regulations approved by the Superintendent.
  • Work with the Superintendent or designee to evaluate virtual learning instructional programs, assess future needs, recommend changes, implement a standards-based aligned curriculum, and support the Center Line Public Schools career academy model.
  • Work with the Superintendent or designee and the professional staff to develop and evaluate a professional learning plan.
  • Facilitate MICIP school improvement efforts.
  • Participate in the screening, interviewing and selection of all building personnel.
  • Develop the master schedule and assign instructional staff.
  • Manage student information systems and ensure accuracy of student records.
  • Manage student scheduling and credit audits.
  • Plan and develop the school budget, administering all funds and keeping accurate records.
  • Coordinate the School-wide Testing Program.
  • Oversee the compliance and preparation of local, county, state and federal reports as required.
  • Assure the health, safety, and general welfare of all persons in the building.
  • Promote among all staff, students and parents a positive learning community.
  • Act as liaison between the school and community developing positive public relations and community participation.
  • Coordinate and participate in supervision of curricular activities and extracurricular activities.  Attend school sponsored activities and functions.
  • Coordinate with Center Line High School for all commencement activities and exercises.
  • Participate in appropriate administrative and professional district committees.
  • Work cooperatively with the Board of Education and fellow administrators to promote a strong management team.
