Primary Purpose:
The MTSS Coordinator provides leadership in the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of a comprehensive Multi-Tiered System of Supports that addresses academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs. This role ensures a cohesive, proactive system in which student needs are identified early, supported through evidence-based interventions, and consistently monitored for effectiveness. The MTSS Coordinator leads the development and alignment of district-wide MTSS systems across campuses, ensuring fidelity and consistency in implementation. In collaboration with campus and district leadership, this role uses data to guide instructional decisions, supports problem-solving processes, and provides targeted professional development and coaching to strengthen intervention and acceleration across content areas. The Coordinator also ensures alignment of systems and resources to provide equitable support for all students, with a clear focus on measurable outcomes.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master’s Degree in school leadership or related field
Mid-management/principal certification, preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Experience facilitating intervention teams or problem-solving teams
Familiarity with intervention planning, data analysis, and evidence-based practices
Knowledge of District, State & Federal program services, policies, procedures, including Section 504
Knowledge of Texas Education Agency, State and Federal laws and regulations
Knowledge of academic and behavior intervention programs
Ability to analyze and interpret data
Ability to analyze and monitor intervention fidelity at district campuses
Ability to support special program effectiveness and program compliance
Ability to establish and maintain relationships with teachers and administrators
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Knowledge using data platforms and tools that support progress monitoring and plan development
Experience:
At least three to five years of successful campus leadership experience.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Strategies
- Strengthen Tier 1 Instruction
Ensure core academic instruction, classroom management, and social-emotional practices are clear, culturally responsive, and consistently implemented. - Facilitate Structured MTSS/RTI Meetings
Lead the use of consistent agendas and data tools to support effective problem-solving and follow-through. - Ensure Fidelity of Implementation
Monitor and support MTSS/RTI processes and interventions to ensure they are implemented as designed and are effective. - Build Staff Capacity
Provide professional development, coaching, and tools to embed MTSS practices into daily instruction and campus systems. - Support MTSS/RTI Systems and Data Use
Assist with the development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of MTSS/RTI processes through data analysis and program monitoring. - Support Intervention Implementation and Student Placement
Collaborate with staff to ensure effective delivery of interventions and appropriate identification, placement, and monitoring of students. - Provide Resources and Instructional Guidance
Support staff with resources and collaborate with leadership to strengthen instructional strategies, curriculum, standards, and assessments related to student support.
Leadership
1. Coordinate the Response to Intervention (RTI) process.
2. Oversee Section 504 program and ensure campus 504 coordinators follow rules and regulations.
3. Observe campus intervention protocols and provide feedback and assistance to facilitate improvement and innovation.
4. Provide support and monitor effectiveness of campus Student Support teams (SST) specifically with regard to At Risk students.
Communication
5. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and the community.
6. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
7. Disseminate information regarding current research and significant developments on the state and national levels.
Professional Growth and Development
8. Attend professional training to develop and enhance the Response to Intervention (RTI) process, and other state and federal special programs, etc.
9. Coordinate and/or conduct professional development for teachers and campus administration in RTI process.
10. Train campus 504 coordinators in rules, regulations, and procedures.
Policy, Reports, and Law & Other
11. Keep informed of and comply with policies established by federal and state law, special program requirements, Texas Education Agency, State Board of Education rule, and the local CSCISD board policy.
12. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized data, reports, records, and other documents as required.
13. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
