Wage Range: $13/hour


 

Description of the Position: (Purpose of the Position): Oversee Communications Center operations ensuring continuity of functions.

Transferable Skills: Communication, information management, emergency preparedness.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee Communications Center operations ensuring continuity of functions.

  • Working with the Department of Public Safety, assist in the recruitment of new student Dispatchers.

  • Select and oversee student Dispatch Leads.

  • Coordinate training for new Dispatch hires with support of the Dispatch Leads.

  • Coordinate and disseminate staffing schedule for Communications Center.

  • Coordinate monthly training for Communications Center student staff.

  • Serve as a student dispatcher to include answering the Public Safety emergency number, gathering important information, and dispatching officers.

  • Maintain current manuals, guidebooks, and other relevant documentation for the Communications Center.

  • Oversee upkeep and cleanliness of the Communications Center suite.


 

Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills) 

  • Prior experience as a student dispatcher.

  • Clean campus conduct record.

  • Successful completion of provided training program.

  • Successful completion of a background check which may include: criminal background checks, reference checks, verification of work history, verification of any required academic credentials, licenses, and/or certifications.

  • Effective verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision. 

  • Must be dependable and responsible.

  • Ability to work effectively during scheduled hours.

  • Ability to handle and safeguard confidential information.
