Hyrum City is accepting resumes for a City Engineer. The primary role of this position is to review, design, and approve engineered plans and specifications for public improvements, subdivisions, and developments; determine plan compliance with codes and standards; provide professional engineer's stamp for in-house design projects and incur personal professional liability per Utah Code; and approve all city plats for conformity with survey requirements, city code, and Utah Code.

- Perform a variety of professional duties related to reviewing the design, development, and construction of city infrastructure.
- Direct project monitoring to ensure compliance with standards and ordinances.
- Provide engineering oversight as requested for other departments and divisions including streets, water, irrigation, sewer collection, parks, cemetery, flood control and new development.
- Maintain responsibility for the mapping of City infrastructure and the Geographic Information System (GIS) program for the City.
- Prepare engineering reviews and reports for proposed projects and developments.
- Assist in overseeing long range strategies for public works development.
- Participate in public meetings and hearings as needed to solicit public response and apprise of policy and project options.
- Educates and communicates to the public through public meetings, and presentations.
- Conduct pre-project meetings with developers, contractors, architects, etc., as needed to inform and educate regarding city standards and project expectations.
- Oversee and monitors progress of contract projects; provides quality assurance review of various stages of project completion; initiates corrective action and change orders as needed to maintain established Federal, State, and Local Codes.
Required Education and Experience:
Graduation from college with a bachelor's degree in engineering.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of computerized engineering systems and instruments (CAD / GIS) and related peripheral equipment; and software applications related to specific engineering software including web-based applications.
- Engineering methods, principles and practices.
- Construction standards and specifications common to public works projects.
- Building codes, planning and zoning ordinances, engineering standards and codes technical and practical design of public works systems.
- Interpersonal communication skills.
- Able to independently identify problems, propose solutions, and execute with minimal supervision.

- Capable of managing multiple technical priorities while working autonomously.
