Job Title: Chemist, QC II
Reports To: Manager, Production
Position Location: Raleigh, NC
FLSA Status (Exempt/Non-Exempt): Exempt
Position Summary:
The Quality Control Chemist II will involve all quality control tasks related to the production of the company’s organic products. Responsibilities include the quality control of in-coming raw materials and finished products. The incumbent must be a dynamic individual who can multi-task and perform various activities associated with QC operations while adhering to all safety policies and high quality Standard Operating Procedures. This position requires hands on chemistry lab work and will report to the Organic Production Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Quality control of in-coming raw materials and finished custom and stock products using GC, GC/MS and FTIR
- Special consideration will be given for prior Mass Spectroscopy experience; HPLC, LC/MS, GC/MS/MS and LC/MS QQQ experience a plus
- Be proficient with the instrumental analysis and data interpretation of products
- Understands how to optimize methods to improve complex analyses
- Troubleshoot products that exhibit special processing problems
- Assist in review of analytical data, service requests for QC instruments, maintaining security/safety standards, and troubleshooting quality process issues to make sure products meet internal/external quality specification as well as the guaranteed product delivery time.
- Assist in review customized products and new products specification documents and work with design chemists to prepare products test methods/requirements
- Adhere to all safety, quality, process, housekeeping and company policies/procedures to ensure compliance to various regulatory and internal system requirements
- Identify, define and support intra/inter departmental continuous improvement activities/initiatives to successfully support operations and the corporate strategic vision
- Other duties as assigned
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering or related field from an accredited higher learning institution or equivalent experience. Organic chemistry experience preferred
Experience:
- 5+ years’ experience operating HPLC and GC/MS instrumentation
- LC/MS experience a plus
- Knowledgeable/familiarity in the areas of Lean Manufacturing, process control

- Ability to develop realistic/achievable action plans to support organizational objectives and strategies
- Quick learner, ability to pick up and create procedures and processes quickly
- Ability to prioritize work as needed and taking direction from Management
- Project management training and experience is beneficial
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Basic knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office products, and the ability to use email
- Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, efficiently works under pressure, within deadlines or other time essential constraints
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to clearly and concisely communicate to all levels of the organization
- Strong work ethic and an ability to excel within a rapidly changing and growing organization
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary Range: $60,000-$85,000, depending on location, experience, and qualifications.
