The Newport School District is seeking a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) for our summer Extended School Year (ESY) program. This role focuses on providing direct speech and language therapy to students in grades Pre-K through 12 and providing clinical supervision to a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA). The goal of this position is to maintain students' communication skills and prevent regression during the summer break.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Direct Therapy: Provide specially designed instruction (SDI) in the areas of expressive/receptive language, articulation, and functional communication as outlined in student IEPs.
    • Clinical Supervision: Provide oversight and supervision of a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) in accordance with New Hampshire state licensing board requirements.
    • Targeted Support: Implement strategies to improve speech intelligibility (e.g., working on initial sound production) and functional vocabulary to reduce communication-based frustration.
    • Progress Monitoring: Collect data on student goals and complete end-of-summer progress reports.
    • Collaboration: Work with the special education team to support students who may have social-emotional needs related to their communication delays.
