The role
We are currently seeking multiple individuals to join our team at our Geochemistry site in Townsville. By registering your interest, you will be considered for upcoming opportunities.
We are looking for dedicated Trainee Sample Preparers to work in a fast-paced environment, supporting our many mining and exploration clients across Queensland.
Trainee Sample Preparers are responsible for the preparation of samples for testing to identify chemical composition.
As a Trainee Sample Preparer, you will be working in a warehouse operating machinery to crush, split, and pulverize mineral samples for laboratory analysis. Please note that this is a physically demanding role in a dusty work environment, so previous production experience and flexibility with availability would be highly advantageous.
While this is a Casual role, you MUST be available to work full-time hours from Monday to Friday and MUST be willing to be flexible to work on a day shift and night shift.
The role also involves working in a dusty environment where wearing a half-face respirator is mandatory, and to ensure a proper seal, you must be clean-shaven.
There are opportunities for multi-skilling within the department, including progression towards more complex roles in sample preparation, administration, supervisory, and laboratory positions.

The day to day
Operate various sample preparation equipment in accordance with procedures outlined in the relevant QWIs
Sort received samples as per the client’s submission form, noting any discrepancies on the sample sorting sheet
Apply barcode labels to sorted samples and capture received sample weights in the Gems interface
Transfer scanned samples to drying racks
Crush, riffle, split, and sieve samples as directed prior to drying them at the specified temperature
Operate pulverising mills to achieve the required end-product specification
Promptly inform the supervisor of any issues (e.g., excessively wet samples, machinery breakdowns, etc.)
Maintain machinery and equipment as directed
Ensure work areas are kept clean and tidy

Be reliable, physically fit, and prepared to carry out repetitive maual handling task
