Position Summary
The Product Engineer (Plustronics) supports the development and industrialization of advanced automotive components, with a focus on decorative trims, mechatronics, and lighting systems. This role works cross-functionally with customers, engineering teams, production plants, and suppliers to deliver high-quality products on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Support product development and industrialization across all project phases (PEP)
- Assist in managing engineering projects, including cost, timing, and quality tracking
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, production, sales, and suppliers
- Design and develop automotive components, modules, and systems for manufacturability
- Ensure customer requirements are implemented while protecting company interests
- Participate in customer meetings (CAD reviews, styling, testing, etc.)
- Assist with prototype procurement and validation activities
- Evaluate simulation, testing, and measurement results; track optimization actions
- Support change management processes across production plants
- Contribute to RFQ preparation and support business development activities
- Participate in Product and Process FMEAs and tolerance analysis
- Support development of technical and functional specifications
- Contribute to achieving project milestones and maturity targets
- Provide technical and organizational support across all development phases
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field (or equivalent experience)
- Experience within a Tier 1 automotive supplier environment preferred
- Strong knowledge of plastics processing and automotive component design
- Experience with decorative trims, mechatronics, and lighting systems
- Understanding of kinematics and electromechanical assemblies
- Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (CATIA V5 and/or Siemens NX)
- Familiarity with engineering tools and methodologies (FMEA, PPAP, etc.)
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes (joining, fastening, finishing)
- Experience with MS Office, SAP, and PDM/EDM systems
- Knowledge of quality standards (IATF 16949, ISO 9001)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to travel (domestic and international)
