The Manager of Safety and Security is responsible for management of the daily functions of Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas’ (PPGT) Security department, whose role is to ensure the physical safety and protection of the organization’s employees, visitors and assets. Supports the organization’s strategic plan and workplace inclusion initiatives. Abides by the organization’s mission in performing job duties. Demonstrates an understanding and commitment to excellent customer service and PPGT’s culture of quality, safety and risk awareness.
Responsibilities:
• Manages the organization’s Safety & Security program, ensuring that PPGT employees receive appropriate training and support required for the safety and protection of PPGT’s employees, visitors and physical assets.
• In conjunction with supervisor, implements preventive and proactive measures in an ever-changing external environment including and not limited to intelligence analysis and asset protection.
• Conducts audits and inspections to identify fire, safety, and security risks, vulnerabilities and gaps and recommends and implements solutions. Monitors and inspects systems, alarms, and other physical security measures.
• Maintains up-to-date working knowledge of opposition actors, groups, strategies, and tactics.
• Follows up on all unusual activities in and around PPGT properties that may impair the well-being of patients, visitors and employees.
• Establishes operational plans for crisis response, disaster recovery, evacuation, workplace violence, and other emergency events.
• Prepares and delivers timely, appropriate communications to PPGT staff in anticipation of and following security incidents
• Develops and maintains strong working relationships with employees, vendors, and contractors. Ensures vendor contracts are obtained and renewed per PPGT policy.
• Develops and maintains relationships with law enforcement and emergency services.
• Responsible for oversight of hired contractors for security related projects and ensures confidentiality of projects as required.
• Assists with coordination of security for special events. Is onsite for events as needed.
• Create and implement security standards, policies, and procedures in collaboration with supervisor and senior operations leaders to ensure safety and security related policies and procedures are up to date. Responsible for ensuring that staff, visitors and vendors adhere to organization’s facilities, safety and security policies at all times.
• Ensures strict adherence to PPGT’s access control policies.
• May assist with investigations and critical event responses in coordination with supervisor and applicable law enforcement officials.
• Understands law enforcement methods, tactics, and procedures.
• Collects data and prepares analysis on program activities and achievements, communicating with appropriate stakeholders accurately and in a timely manner.
• Prepares timely, complete security incident reports and prepares and delivers all required security incident reports per due dates to PPFA Security Group as required.
• Develops departmental budget, in collaboration with supervisor and senior leaders. Ensures all purchases and expenses comply with purchasing requirements and obtains necessary approvals.
• Must be available to be on-call and available to respond to incidents as required. Assumes control of incident scenes until relieved.
• Adheres to the organization’s compliance requirements and all applicable laws and safety regulations.
• Embraces the organization’s ‘In This Together’ customer service standards and uses them with internal and external clients, every person, every time.
• Has unrestricted access to client protected health information (PHI) on paper and electronic forms for purposes of treatment, payment, and/or healthcare operations. The use of a client’s protected health information should be limited to information needed for the specific task that is being performed or requested by the individual client. Disclosure of any client information must be for purposes of treatment, payment or healthcare operation OR must be accompanied by a valid authorization. Must adhere to minimum necessary rule.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree + 3 years of related exempt experience or Associate’s degree + 5 years of related exempt experience or High School diploma or equivalent + 7 years of related exempt experience. Related exempt experience: Security or Safety-related exempt experience required. Experience in health care industry preferred.

Must be able to hear such as the ability to receive detailed communication orally. Must be able to communicate effectively. Will have substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Subject to hazards including a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, noise, exposure to chemicals or exposure to extreme heat or cold. Must be able to lift and/or exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently. Must be able to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects. Office and Health Center environment.
