About the Role:
We are seeking a Senior Analyst, Real Assets for our Investments team. Reporting to the Portfolio Manager, the Senior Analyst will be actively involved in all aspects of the investment process. The successful incumbent will support the implementation of CAAT’s investment strategy, conduct due diligence, execute and monitor CAAT’s Real Asset investments. The Real Assets team is focused on building a globally diversified portfolio of infrastructure and real estate private equity investments through fund commitments and co-investments.
As the Newest Member of our Team, You’ll:
Support the screening, evaluation and execution of prospective investment opportunities under the direction of senior team members. Contribute to progressing due diligence workstreams (e.g. financial, legal, tax) and assist in managing third parties (e.g. advisors, lawyers).
Assist in track record analyses on investment managers, and sensitivity and investment case analyses on prospective co-investments.
Develop investment judgment with the ability to understand the wider deal context while focusing on key merits and risks
Support the preparation of written investment memos for new investment opportunities.
Assist in maintaining a prioritized pipeline of investment opportunities in tandem with the pacing model for the real asset portfolio.
Attend conference calls with general partners and assist in monitoring ongoing portfolio performance at the fund and asset level. Provide portfolio insights to support decision making.
Participate in preparing and reviewing Real Assets-related quarterly reports, as well as other ad-hoc reporting materials for the Investment Committee and for senior management.
Contribute to developing a creative approach to assessing new investment opportunities and company track records.
Contribute to the standardization, documentation, and improvement of CAAT's private market investing practices and processes.
Remain abreast of real assets investment themes and trends, conduct research and perform special projects as needed, while actively contributing to Real Assets and Investment team discussions.
To Succeed, You Bring:
An undergraduate degree in Commerce, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering or other related disciplines.
A minimum of two (2) years of experience in institutional investing, private markets/private equity investing, investment banking, investment advisory or at a Big 4 accounting firm.
Strong technical skills (financial modeling, financial analysis, valuation) with the ability to think critically.
Working knowledge of private markets/private equity investing, due diligence, portfolio management and capital markets. Knowledge of the real assets investment universe or experience working on infrastructure or real estate transactions would be an asset.
Possessing or pursuing an MBA, MFin, CFA, CPA, CBV, CAIA or any other relevant professional designation would be an asset.
Experience with external databases (e.g Pitchbook, Infralogic) is an asset.
Strong verbal and written communication skills – able to write effective emails, make concise and informative recommendations and presentations, while being proactive and resourceful, taking ownership of work, and exercising good judgment with meticulous attention to detail.
Ability to work collaboratively in a small, informal team setting or independently, with solid prioritization and organizational skills.
