    Cafeteria Manager

    Description: Supervise, train, and manage districtwide food service operations. Ensure appropriate quantities of food are prepared and served, meet menu time requirements, and maintain compliance with health codes.

    Primary Purpose

     

    The Cafeteria Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing daily kitchen operations and cafeteria staff. This role ensures all food production meets safety and sanitation standards, maintains accurate records, manages inventory, and oversees staff training, cash handling, and compliance with district policies.

     

    Job Summary

     
    • Plan and organize kitchen operations and supervise cafeteria staff.

    • Maintain proficiency in the cafeteria POS software and manage daily, weekly, and monthly reports.

    • Maintain organized and accurate records to ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards.

    • Order products based on projected counts and manage inventory efficiently.

    • Follow district security procedures for cash handling and manage daily cash deposits.

    • Review school enrollment rosters and ensure accurate student enrollment in the POS system.

    • Manage staff time clock usage and ensure accountability.

    • Communicate effectively with campus and district administration.

    • Delegate tasks appropriately and monitor staff performance.

    • Ensure all meals claimed are entered correctly into the computer system.

     

    Qualifications

     
    • High school diploma or GED.

    • Valid Texas driver’s license.

    • Previous experience in food preparation.

    • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

    • Strong communication skills.

     

    Experience

     
    • Completion of ServSafe Certification prior to or during the first year as manager.

    • Three years of experience in institutional food service operations.

     

    Supervisory Responsibilities

     
    • Supervise and evaluate food service workers assigned to the campus cafeteria.

     

    Equipment Used

     
    • Includes but is not limited to: Electric slicer, mixer, pressure steamer, deep-fat fryer, sharp cutting tools, oven, dishwasher, and food/utility carts.
     

    Working Conditions

     

    Mental/Physical/Environmental Demands:
    Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, walking, pushing, and pulling; moderate lifting and carrying; some stooping, bending, and kneeling. Limited exposure to extreme heat and cold.
