A Day in the Life

Leadership: Provide legal support for the Neuromodulation Operating Unit, with demonstrated ability to collaborate and partner with business leaders regarding business strategy and related legal and compliance issues. Strong interaction and collaboration with other Legal Department team members, including Legal and Compliance Centers of Expertise (COEs) and Regional Legal team members. Strong interaction and collaboration with other Medtronic functions, including: Marketing, Sales, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Research and Development, Business Development, Clinical, Office of Medical Affairs, Finance, Human Resources, Communications, and Operations. Proven ability to effectively manage multiple priorities with a sense of urgency while working within the Medtronic Mindsets and Mission.

Commercial: Proven ability to provide strong commercial legal advice and also step in to provide support across the larger Neuromodulation Operating Unit (NM OU) in substantive areas of the law, including: negotiation and drafting of a wide array of strategic commercial contracts; healthcare compliance; competition law; regulatory law; product liability; data privacy & protection; distribution and agency law; labor & employment law; corporate governance; mergers & acquisitions; and a basic understanding of intellectual property and litigation issues, as required.

This is an onsite position located in Minneapolis, MN, at the Rice Creek location. This position reports to the Chief Legal Counsel for the Neuromodulation Operating Unit and works closely with the other Lead Counsel within Neuromodulation.

         

         

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Manage and deliver legal advice and counsel to legal, business, function, and regional stakeholders.
  • Maintain trusted seat at leadership team meetings and operating mechanisms for the OU and ensure the business receives the legal advice needed to make key business decisions and manage cross-functional legal and compliance risks appropriately.
  • Coordinate and partner with COEs, regional partners, and outside counsel, to ensure high quality legal support.
  • Engage appropriate stakeholders across the enterprise to drive consistency in approach as appropriate.
  • Lead stakeholders in development and implementation of relevant training and knowledge management programs.
  • Serve as OU legal counsel for business development projects involving due diligence, acquisitions, joint ventures and integrations.
  • Implement continuous improvement of operating mechanisms.
  • Guide, develop, and support Legal Department team members.
  • Engage in knowledge sharing with other OU Legal Leaders within the Neurosciences Portfolio and across the Enterprise.
  • Build consensus and navigate cutting-edge legal issues.

MUST HAVE: MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Juris Doctor from nationally recognized law school
  • Admitted to one or more state bars
  • Be a member of good standing of the bar in the state in which the position is based or be eligible to waive into such state bar or otherwise be eligible to practice in such state (e.g., authorized house counsel program)
  • 13+ years of legal experience

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$223,200.00 - $334,800.00

 

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
