Role Overview

Safetrust is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to manage core accounting and payroll operations in Vietnam.


You will own end-to-end payroll processing, along with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and general accounting responsibilities, ensuring compliance with Vietnam Accounting Standards (VAS) and alignment with global reporting frameworks.


This role also supports the transition from manual processes to scalable global payroll and finance systems, helping build the foundation for long-term growth.


What You’ll Do

Vietnam Payroll Ownership

  • Own end-to-end monthly payroll processing for Vietnam employees
  • Calculate salaries, allowances, overtime, bonuses, and statutory deductions
  • Ensure accurate and timely filing of:
    • Personal Income Tax (PIT)
    • Social Insurance (SI), Health Insurance (HI), Unemployment Insurance (UI)
  • Partner with HR to validate employee data, contracts, and compensation changes
  • Manage payroll disbursement, reporting, and reconciliation
  • Support labor audits, tax inspections, and statutory reporting
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of employee data

General Accounting & Financial Operations

  • Maintain accurate accounting records in compliance with VAS and company policies
  • Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close schedules
  • Record payroll, AP, and AR transactions in the general ledger
  • Support preparation of financial reports aligned with IFRS / US GAAP (as applicable)
  • Ensure all financial records are complete, accurate, and audit-ready

Accounts Payable (AP)

  • Process vendor invoices and validate approvals
  • Ensure VAT compliance and accurate documentation
  • Manage payment schedules and vendor reconciliations
  • Resolve discrepancies and maintain vendor relationships

Accounts Receivable (AR)

  • Issue invoices in compliance with local regulations
  • Monitor receivables and follow up on outstanding balances
  • Apply payments and reconcile accounts
  • Support collections and aging analysis

Compliance & Regulatory Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with Vietnam tax regulations (VAT, PIT, CIT)
  • Support statutory filings and regulatory reporting
  • Ensure payroll practices align with Vietnam Labor Law requirements
  • Maintain documentation for audits and regulatory inspections
  • Support internal controls and financial governance

Systems, Process Improvement & Scalability

  • Support implementation of global payroll platforms (e.g., Papaya Global or similar)
  • Document current payroll and accounting processes and identify gaps
  • Participate in system testing, data validation, and process transitions
  • Help establish scalable, compliant payroll and accounting processes
  • Collaborate with HR and global Finance teams to ensure accurate data flow


What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3–6 years of accounting experience, including hands-on Vietnam payroll processing (required)
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Vietnam Accounting Standards (VAS)
    • Vietnam Labor Law and payroll regulations
    • Tax regulations (PIT, VAT, SI/HI/UI)
  • Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP systems
  • Familiarity with inventory accounting and adjustments
  • Exposure to payroll systems or implementations is a plus
  • Basic understanding of IFRS or US GAAP preferred
  • Fluent Vietnamese and English communication skills
