    COMPENSATION: Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement located on the DY website.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Develop, implement and update the guidance curriculum in order to raise achievement levels for all students in accordance with the school's mission and national standards.
    • Participate in programs for parents and students in order to facilitate communication between the school, home and community.
    • Possess a working knowledge of student information systems.
    • Counsel individuals and groups concerning their educational and occupational plans along with their immediate needs and specific challenges.
    • Provide social/emotional, academic and career counseling to students in grades 8-12.
    • Assist in the transition between the high school and middle school.
    • Understand the laws that govern special education students including those that impact IEP's and 504 plans.
    • Facilitate appropriate referrals based on knowledge of community and state agencies.
    • Possess a working knowledge of Mass. Core requirements, MCAS requirements and EWIS.
    • Work cooperatively with other members of the school and district to best meet the needs of the students at Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School.
    • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the high school administration.

    School counselors at DYRHS work 12 days in addition to the teacher's 185-day contract and are paid at their per-diem rate for the additional days.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Secondary School Counselor/Guidance Counselor by MA DESE, grades 8-12.
    • Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Commitment to work as a team with teachers, counselors and administrators
    • Ability to use technology for data analysis, scheduling and communication
    • At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred
    • Master degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
