About the job:

Solution Architect Manufacturing and Quality

1. Role Purpose

Opella is seeking a Solution Architect to support and govern the architecture of multiple Digital Manufacturing and Digital Quality initiatives across several sites.

The role is mutualized across two streams (Digital Manufacturing and Digital Quality) to optimize cost and ensure architectural consistency across projects. The Solution Architect will be responsible for end‑to‑end solution architecture definition, integration design, security and infrastructure considerations, and delivery of formal architecture documentation, in strict alignment with Opella Enterprise Architecture, Integration Governance, and SIMPLE methodology.

2. Scope of Applications & Projects

The Solution Architect will cover architecture activities for the following applications and platforms:

Manufacturing & Quality Digital Solutions

·       Tulip (New implementation - Project ongoing)

o   eOEE (Site in Hungary)

o   eBR (Electronic Batch Record) (Site in the US)

o   IPC (In-process controls) (Site in France)

·       LIMS (new implementation – critical project)

o   Laboratory Information Management System in all Opella sites

o   Integrations between LIMS and other enterprise systems

·       CaduceeChromatography Data System (CDS)

o   Standalone system

o   Replatforming into Opella infrastructure (lift‑and‑shift from Sanofi)

o   Includes infrastructure, security, and integration alignment with Opella standards

·       Artwork Management – Esko Webcenter

o   Cloud-based collaboration and workflow management platform designed for the packaging and and artwork management.

·       Siemens Opcenter - Application managed by Sanofi today we need to define Opella target architecture for the takeover. Also, for the ‘to be’ created Opella global environments in Azure.

·       eSASLinternal Opella name for the Act4Health solution from Edgyn vendor, covering the eFingerprint capability

Criticality

·       Tulip (eOEE, eBR, IPC), Caducee, LIMS and Artwork are the highest‑priority projects.

·       All other applications, including Caducee CDS replatforming, must be fully included in the architectural scope.

Main Responsibilities:

3.1 Architecture Design & Delivery

·       Define end‑to‑end solution architectures for all projects in scope.

·       Produce complete architecture deliverables following C4 methodology:

o   C1 – System Context

o   C2 – Container

o   C3 – Component

o   IAS - Infrastructure Architecture Specification

·       Design and document:

o   Application architecture

o   Integration and data flows

o   Infrastructure architecture (on‑prem / cloud where applicable)

o   Cyber discussions

·       Address replatforming scenarios, including lift‑and‑shift constraints, legacy dependencies, and target‑state alignment (notably for Caducee CDS).

·       Ensure architectures are scalable, interoperable, secure, and aligned with Opella target state.

·       Define and document transitional / intermediate architecture states when required.

3.2 Integration Architecture & Governance

·       Design interfaces in compliance with Opella Integration Core Team (ICT) standards.

·       Select and justify integration patterns using Opella’s integration decision tree.

·       Ensure full adherence to:

o   Opella E2E Integration Governance Process

o   Jira‑based governance workflow for interface lifecycle

·       Contribute to:

o   Interfaces Catalog enrichment

o   Interface documentation and observability requirements

·       Coordinate with Integration teams and assigned SPOCs.

3.3 Security, Infrastructure & Non‑Functional Requirements

·       Ensure architecture compliance with Opella cybersecurity, infrastructure, and network standards.

·       Position applications, components, integrations, and data flows into the appropriate predefined security and network layers, in accordance with Opella rules and patterns.

·       Actively engage and collaborate with:

o   Cybersecurity teams

o   Infrastructure teams

o   Network teams

o   Enterprise architecture teams

·       Validate and document:

o   Correct placement of components

o   Compliance with segmentation and access rules

o   Alignment with Opella infrastructure models

·       Capture security and infrastructure constraints in architecture documentation.

·       Ensure non‑functional requirements are addressed and validated, including:

o   Availability

o   Performance

o   Scalability

o   Resilience

o   Backup and restore procedures

o   High availability and disaster recovery concepts

·       Ensure formal sign‑off from Cyber, Infrastructure and enterprise architecture stakeholders where required.

3.4 Governance, Decision‑Making & Compliance

·       Ensure compliance with Opella Enterprise Architecture Governance.

·       Produce and maintain Architecture Decision Records (ADR) in collaboration with Opella Product Owners

·       Secure architecture approvals in collaboration with Opella Product Owners via:

o   Domain Design Authorities

o   Enterprise Design Authority when required

·       Participate in:

o   Weekly Domain and Enterprise Design Authority meetings when required

o   Monthly Architecture Council (as required for escalations)

·       Ensure 100% of architecture documentation is completed and approved before build starts.

3.5 Documentation & Knowledge Management

·       Produce all deliverables using existing Opella templates.

·       Store and maintain documentation in:

o   Confluence

o   SharePoint / Enterprise Architecture repositories

·       Ensure versioning, traceability, and milestone‑based knowledge transfer.

·       Escalate high‑impact risks within 24 hours.

3.6 Project & Stakeholder Coordination

·       Work closely with:

o   Digital Manufacturing and Digital Quality streams

o   Project Managers

o   Business stakeholders

o   Vendors and System Integrators

·       Align with Project Managers to:

o   Plan architecture activities

o   Track progress and cross‑project dependencies

o   Ensure on‑time delivery of architecture milestones

·       Maintain accurate application and architecture repositories.

4. Tools & Ways of Working

·       Atlassian Jira – project coordination

·       Confluence – architecture documentation and EA repository

·       Ability to operate across multiple parallel projects and sites

·       Comfortable working in agile / hybrid delivery environments

5. Required Profile & Experience

Core Experience

·       Proven experience as a Solution Architect in manufacturing and quality digital environments

·       Strong background in:

o   Manufacturing systems

o   Quality and laboratory systems

o   Shopfloor and lab environments

·       Experience with system replatforming / lift‑and‑shift initiatives is a strong asset

Technical Knowledge

·       Manufacturing Execution / Digital Manufacturing platforms

·       Quality systems

·       Integration architectures and middleware concepts

·       Data flows and interface design

·       Network segregation and security principles

Architecture & Governance

·       Strong experience with C4 architecture methodology

·       Experience working within enterprise architecture governance frameworks

·       High documentation quality, rigor, and stakeholder alignment capability
