    Emily Gray Junior High School is seeking a full time Health Aide starting school year 2026-2027. This is a 10 month position. This position supports the health and well-being of students and staff by providing daily health services, administering first aid, and assisting with medical needs under the direction of a School Nurse, Principal, or designee.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Maintain and organize the health office, ensuring adequate supplies and cleanliness.
    • Record and update student health records, including immunization compliance and screenings.
    • Administer first aid, prescribed medications, and care for minor injuries.
    • Assist with individualized healthcare plans (e.g., diabetic, seizure, and tracheostomy management).
    • Respond to emergencies and coordinate with external medical providers or parents as necessary.
    • Communicate with parents regarding health issues and maintain confidentiality.
    • Prepare reports and maintain logs of health office visits, incidents, and screenings.
    • Conduct health screenings (e.g., vision, hearing) and notify parents of results.
    • Monitor immunization records and ensure compliance with state laws.
    • Perform clerical tasks such as answering phones and maintaining computerized records.
    • Support special health programs and provide training or health education to staff as needed. 

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Knowledge of basic and advanced first aid procedures, including CPR, AED, and universal precautions for handling body fluids and bloodborne pathogens.
    • Ability to recognize symptoms and respond appropriately to common medical conditions, such as hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia, allergic reactions (including EpiPen use), respiratory distress, and substance abuse.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with students, parents, staff, and external health agencies.
    • Proficient in maintaining and organizing health records, daily logs, immunization records, and statistical data for state or district reporting.
    • Competent in basic office tasks, including answering phones, ordering supplies, and using computer systems for data entry.
    • Ability to exhibit patience, empathy, and courtesy when dealing with students, parents, and staff, especially in stressful situations.
    • Familiarity with medical tools such as thermometers, sphygmomanometers, and equipment for vision and hearing screenings. Proficiency in using software for record keeping and report generation.
    • Capability to apply common sense and critical thinking to address medical or situational issues that arise in a school setting.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team under the direction of professional staff.

     Minimum Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Current First Aid and CPR certifications.
    • 1-2 years of relevant work experience in health care, schools, or working with children. 

    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to bend, stoop, and kneel to perform tasks.
    • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 50 pounds.
    • Work indoors and outdoors in varying noise levels; exposure to health risks such as pathogens and allergens. 

    Pay starts at $16.00 per hour.
